Download and Installation Instructions

Download and execute the proper version of Paralog for your platform below. Every version comes with an easy to use installation program which will guide you through the setup process. Please refer to the online manual for further instructions. A demonstration jump log, sample data and the online help is installed with the software for your convenience.

Important

The trial version available from this web site is fully functional except for one minor restriction: It will download only one jump profile from your logger/GPS. Once you are satisfied with the software, this limitation can be easily removed by purchasing a license key. Paralog is free of any spyware, bundles or ads and offers simple install and uninstall

In order to download data from your freefall logger you need to set up communications as described by the manufacturer; bearing in mind that not every device is compatible with every computer (details available here). Instructions for setting up your logger are available here.

As Paralog is continually developed and improved, it is a good practice to regularly install the latest updates. Please see the 'Updates' page for details.

It is strongly recommended that you make a backup of all files downloaded in case you need to reinstall the software at a later date.

The current version of Paralog is version 5.0.11, released 04/15/08.

  • For 3D display of GPS tracks download and install Google Earth 4.2 or newer.
  • For video playback in Paralog download and install Apple QuickTime 7.4 or above.
  • Download and run the Paralog installer. If required, it will dynamically download a Java Runtime Environment 1.6.0.
OSX

Due to Java 6 not being available for OSX yet, Paralog 5.0 is currently not supported on OSX. Until then, Paralog 4.1 is the official version for OSX.

  • Make sure you have at least OSX 10.4.0 and the latest Java update installed and set as the default JRE for applications in the Java Preferences!
  • For 3D display of GPS tracks download and install Google Earth.
  • QuickTime required for video playback should be installed on your machine already. If not, download it here.
  • Download and run the Paralog installer.

If you are the adventurous type, you can try Paralog 5.0 with the Java 1.6 Developer Preview.

This version is experimental and will not be released officially for OSX until Apple has officially released JRE 1.6, so use-on-your-own-risk!
